Care Philosophy

Our Recreational Therapeutic Lead is dedicated to researching each resident’s unique background and helping them adjust to life inside the care home. We understand that moving to a new home can be extremely stressful, and physically and emotionally draining for you and your loved ones, so we ensure that our staff do all they can to ease the transition, including listening to any ideas on making the move as smooth as possible.

Staff Development

We believe that our many years of experience in dementia care enhances our ability to choose highly motivated, enthusiastic, and dedicated team members to provide care for all our residents. All staff must complete mandatory training and either hold or be working towards their NVQ in Health and Social Care. We also encourage further development of our staff and have regular tailor-made training sessions and courses to continually improve the high standards of care we offer.

Local Amenities

We are located just a few short minutes from Birkenhead Town Centre, which features many fantastic facilities and opportunities to explore. The Town Centre also has brilliant links into Chester and Liverpool, which we utilise by arranging regular trips and outings. We also offer all our residents opportunities to visit the local pubs, shops and explore the surrounding parks. We recommend the nearby Garden Centre and Art Gallery as a great day out with the family too.

Activities

Previous activities have included visits to Tam O’Shanter Farm, Chester Zoo, the cinema, ten pin bowling, and swimming. The care home has recently purchased a pool table and is home to a gym which is free for use by all residents. Regular outings are organised and we always encourage our residents to take part, and even bring their families along, for us, a care home is an extension of family life.

Menu

Providing a nutritious, well balanced, healthy diet is an important part of the care we offer our residents. Special dietary requirements are accommodated for at no extra burden to our chefs. All our menus are planned ahead of time and source local fruit and vegetables.

My dad spent the last 3 years of his life in Evergreen Lodge and I have to say the care he received during this time was, in my opinion, second to none. I must admit when visiting Evergreen for the first time I did have my reservations, it wasn't the newest or best-looking home I'd visited, however, it soon became apparent that what it lacked in appearance it more than made up for with the care and attentiveness showed to my dad by the care, nursing and management staff. In my opinion, staff often went 'above and beyond' what was expected of them and would often put themselves out to make my dad as happy and comfortable as possible. I cannot thank or praise the staff at Evergreen enough. If you are looking for somewhere for a loved one to stay take my advice 'don't judge a book by its cover', good care is far more important than freshly painted walls and hotel style bedrooms.
